AcknowledgementsFor the first time, the CAPER Annual Census will not be produced as a book. It will now be available in an electronic version only on the CAPER website: www.caper.ca. This is the 19th version of the CAPER Annual Census and is made possible by the participating national medical organizations and governments (Provincial, Territorial and Federal). Our work with representatives from these organizations and governments ensures that the data we produce provide them with the information they require for the development of policies concerning post-M.D. training and physician resources in Canada. Along with the data CAPER is provided by the postgraduate offices of the 17 Canadian faculties of medicine, our publication relies on data from three other sources, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS) and the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC). We rely on and appreciate the work of Ms. Lynda Buske and Ms. Shelley Martin at the CMA and Dr. Nicholas Busing and his staff, Ms. Liane Kealey and Ms. Dale Yeatman at AFMC and the willing help of the 17 associate deans for postgraduate medical education and their administrative offices. All of the members of CAPER's Executive and Policy Committees have been most supportive in their help with the management of CAPER. In Ontario, we appreciate the work of the Ontario Physician Human Resources Data Centre toward the development of this publication. Special thanks go to the CAPER staff, Ms. Hélène LeBlanc and Mr. Leslie Forward who have worked to a very high standard on behalf of the CAPER Executive Committee. Dr. Jill Nation, the chairman of the CAPER Executive Committee has provided special expertise on behalf of AFMC to manage this national cooperative endeavour. Il serait maintenant uniquement disponsible sur notre Site Web: www.caper.ca. Ceci est la 19ieme version du Recensement annuel des stagiaires en formation postdoctorale de CAPER et a été rendu possible grâce au soutien financier des organisations médicales nationales et des gouvernements participants (provinciaux, territoriaux et fédéral). La collaboration de CAPER avec les représentants de ces organisations et gouvernements permet d'obtenir l'assurance que les données que nous réunissons fournissent à ces derniers l'information dont ils ont besoin pour élaborer des politiques concernant la formation postdoctorale et les ressources en médecins au Canada. Outre les données que CAPER reçoit des 17 facultés canadiennes de médecine au sujet des stagiaires en formation postdoctorale, le Recensement repose sur trois autres sources d'information, à savoir l'Association médicale canadienne (AMC), le Service canadien de jumelage des résidents (SCJR) et l'Association des facultés de médecine du Canada (AFMC). CAPER est très heureux de pouvoir compter sur la collaboration de Mmes Lynda Buske et Shelley Martin, à l'AMC, du Dr Nicholas Busing et de Mmes Liane Kealey et Dale Yeatman, à l'AFMC, sans oublier l'aide diligente des 17 vice-doyens responsables de l'éducation médicale postdoctorale et de leurs bureaux administratifs respectifs. Tous les membres du Comité exécutif et du Comité des politiques de CAPER ont également été d'un grand secours au titre de la gestion de l'organisation. En Ontario, le Centre des données sur les ressources humaines en médecins de l'Ontario a apporté une précieuse contribution à l'élaboration du présent rapport. Je tiens également à remercier Mme Hélène LeBlanc et M. Leslie Forward, de CAPER, qui se sont tous les deux acquittés avec brio de leurs tâches pour le compte du Comité exécutif de l'organisation. Dre Jill Nation, présidente du Comité exécutif, a mis à profit son expertise spécialisée à l'AFMC pour mener à bien la gestion de cet exercice coopératif d'envergure nationale.
